Nearly Half Of U.S. Adults Have High Blood Pressure, No Change Since 2017
About 47.7% of adults in the United States had diagnosed or undiagnosed high blood pressure (hypertension) during 2021 through 2023. The prevalence of high blood pressure has not significantly changed since 2017. High blood pressure was more prevalent among men than women. The percentage of people affected increased with age, ranging from 23.4% for ages 18 to 39, 52.5% for ages 40 to 59, and 71.6% for ages 60 and older.
