New York Expands ‘Safe Options Support’ Program For People With Chronic Homelessness To Two New Counties
On October 28, 2024, the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) announced it expanded its Safe Options Support (SOS) program to two new counties, Steuben and Chemung, in the state’s rural Southern Tier. The program provides a SOS team to help stabilize people experiencing chronic homelessness, including those with mental health and addiction disorder. The new SOS team is operated by the Monroe Plan for Medical Care.
