Uninsured Rate At 7.6% In 2024, Down Slightly From 2023

Between 2023 and 2024, the percentage of uninsured Americans declined slightly from 8% in 2022 and 2023 to 7.6% between April and June 2024. About 25.3 million people were uninsured during 2024, down 4.2% from 26.4 million during 2023.

The remaining 92.4% of U.S. residents were insured during the April through June 2024 quarter. About 39% had health care coverage through a publicly funded health program, such as Medicaid, Medicare, or the Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP).
