Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Via Video Telehealth Effective For Reducing The Risk Of Suicide Attempts
Brief cognitive behavioral therapy (BCBT) delivered via video telehealth is effective for reducing the one-year risk of suicide attempts among adults with recent suicidal ideation and/or suicidal behavior. Overall, BCBT participants had a 41% reduced risk for suicide attempts compared to present-centered therapy (PCT) participants. BCBT is an evidence-based suicide-focused intervention that teaches emotion regulation and reappraisal skills and in-person treatment using BCBT has been shown to reduce suicide attempts by as much as 60% when compared to typical mental health care.
