National Background Check Program Helped 27 States Develop Processes For Long-Term Care

From 2010 to 2024, a National Background Check Program helped 27 of the 29 participating states develop background check processes to identify efficient, effective, and economical procedures for conducting background checks on prospective long-term care (LTC) employees. As a result of this program, systems for conducting these checks kept more than a quarter million prospective employees from working in the sector due to disqualifying convictions, many criminal in nature. These disqualifications resulted in a safer environment for LTC residents.
