27% Of Physician Practices Systematically Screen Consumers For Health-Related Social Needs
About 27% of physician practices screened consumers for five common health-related social needs (HRSNs) in 2022, up from 15% in 2017, according to a national survey with more than 3,000 responses. The HRSNs include food insecurity, housing insecurity, the ability to pay for utilities, the presence of interpersonal violence, and a lack of reliable transportation. Over time, the average number of HRSNs screened per practice, across all practices increased from 1.71 in 2017 to 2.34 in 2022.
