Hawaii Medicaid Waiver Extension Approved, Will Continue HRSN, Reentry Services, Foster Youth Integration

Hawaii is continuing its “Hawaii QUEST Integration” section 1115 demonstration initiative for another five years. This extension includes reentry services, foster youth integration, and new coverage of housing supports as health-related social needs (HRSN). The housing supports will be provided under the state’s Community Integration Services program. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the waiver extension request on January 8, 2025, to run through December 31, 2029.

New authorities to the state, include:

HRSN services related to nutrition

Funding for HRSN infrastructure

A contingency management pilot for Medicaid beneficiaries with stimulant use or opioid addiction . . .
