After Launch Of 988 Crisis Lifeline, Peer Services Increased, But Not Other Crisis Services
After the nationwide 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline went live in July 2022, mental health treatment facilities increased peer support services, decreased psychiatric walk-in services, and decreased their mobile crisis response and suicide prevention services. The trends were noted in a study of 15,623 mental health facilities. Before the 988 Line launched, 39% of the facilities offered peer support services; after it launched 42% offered peer support services.
