Oregon Medicaid MCO Changes Reimbursement Policies For Independent Mental Health Associate Professionals

CareOregon, a Medicaid managed care organization (MCO), is ending reimbursement for non-contracted independent associate mental health therapists and social workers. The change goes into effect on July 31, 2025 and is likely to affect board-registered clinical associates, board-registered marriage and family associates, and board-registered professional counselor associates. CareOregon announced this change in late 2024. At that time, it asked affected professionals to cease accepting new CareOregon members as of December 1, 2024.

This change does not affect currently licensed, non-contracted professionals. It also does not affect unlicensed professionals working in a contracted or non-contracted . . .
