Households With People With Autism Receiving Federal Housing Help Up 67% Between 2008 & 2016
The number of people with autism who lived in a household receiving federal housing assistance increased by 67% between 2008 and 2016, rising from 54,214 individuals in 2008 to 90,248 in 2016. Data from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) indicates that 90,248 individuals receiving housing assistance in 2016 lived in 83,732 households (by themselves or with other people). About 6.8% of these autism-present households had more than one person with autism, representing 10,334 individuals.
