Justice Department Finds Idaho Violates The ADA By Unnecessarily Segregating People With Physical Disabilities In Nursing Homes
On January 16, 2025, the federal Department of Justice (DOJ) notified the state of Idaho that the way it administers the state's long-term care system violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by unnecessarily segregating individuals with physical disabilities in nursing facilities. Many others with physical disabilities who live in the community but may move to nursing facilities to obtain supportive living services are therefore also at risk of unnecessary segregation.
