Alberta, Canada Budget Calls For Building Two Involuntary Addiction Treatment Centers
The Alberta, Canada government plans to build two 150-bed involuntary addiction treatment facilities, to be called "Compassionate Intervention Centres." The province’s proposed 2025 budget includes $180 million over three years to build them—one in southern Calgary, and one in northern Edmonton. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with a planned 2029 completion date.
