The percentage of children aged 5 to 17 years with a chronic health condition, such as a behavioral health condition or asthma increased from 23% in 1999 to 30% in 2018. The increased prevalence was driven by increases in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD), autism, asthma, and depression/anxiety.
