Anxiety & Depression Rates Among U.S. Youth Increased From 2016 To 2022, But No Increase To Physical Health Problems
The proportion of youth with anxiety or depression increased by more than 40% from 2016 to 2022 in the United States, according to a 2025 analysis of a federal survey. During the same period, the proportion of youth with specific physical health conditions did not increase. The proportion of youth with anxiety increased by 49%, rising from 7.1% prevalence to 10.6%. The proportion with depression increased by 43%, rising from 3.2% prevalence to 4.6%.
