Medicare Accountable Care Organizations Generated From $4.1 Billion To $8.1 Billion In Savings Between 2012 & 2019
Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) accountable care organizations (ACOs) generated from $4.1 billion to $8.1 billion in savings to Medicare between 2012 and 2019, according to a difference-in-difference study that included more than 8 million Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries. The researchers concluded that ACO formation was associated with a mean differential reduction of $142 (1.2%) in annual per-beneficiary spending over three years. Over six years, the reduction increased to $294 (2.4%) in annual per-beneficiary spending.
