PCPs Participating In The Medicare Comprehensive Primary Care Plus Model Changed Prescribing To Reduce Potential Opioid Overuse
Primary care professionals (PCPs) in practices participating in the Medicare Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) demonstration reduced the average dosage and the number of days' supply of opioids relative to PCPs in comparison practices. The researchers said that across both the CPC+ practices and a group of comparison practices, potential opioid overuse declined from 19% in 2016 to 12% in 2021. In the third year of the CPC+ program, relative to the comparison group, beneficiaries attributed to Track 1 CPC+ practices had a 0.8 percentage point greater decrease in potential opioid overuse.;;
