Alameda County Allocates Homelessness Funding Raised Through A Local Sales Tax

On July 30, 2025, the Alameda County, California, Board of Supervisors approved a plan to allocate $810 million in accrued funds from the county’s Measure W half-cent local sales tax implemented in 2020 to fund homelessness services, among other essential county services. The Measure W funds can be used for housing and services for those experiencing homelessness, mental health services, job training, social safety net, and other general fund services.
