National Health Expenditure Projected To Increase By 7.1% In 2025

National health expenditures are projected to increase 7.1% in 2025, after an estimated 8.2% increase in 2024, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of the Actuary. The estimate also shared additional forecasts:

From 2024 to 2033, national health care expenditure growth is projected to average 5.8% per year.

During 2026 to 2027, health spending growth is estimated to average 5.6%, partly due to changes in the share of the population with health insurance. The insured percentage of the population is projected to decline from 92.1% in 2024 to 91.0 . . .
