54% Of Adults Say They Consume Alcohol, Lowest Percentage Since 1939
About 54% of adults responding to a recent survey stated that they consume alcohol, which is the lowest percentage since Gallup began tracking drinking behaviors in the U.S. in 1939, the analysis stated. Just 6% say that moderate alcohol consumption is good for one’s health, according to the analysis. Among Americans who do drink, a record-low 24% said they had a drink in the past 24 hours, while 40% said it had been more than a week since they last consumed alcohol—the highest percentage since 2000, according to the analysis.
