48% Of U.S. Adolescents Say Social Media Negatively Affects Their Peers
Nearly half of adolescents ages 13 to 17 (48%) say social media has a mostly negative effect on people their age, up from 32% in 2022, according to a recent survey published by Pew Research Center. Fewer (14%) think they are affected personally.
Findings include negative and positive perceptions of how social media affects adolescent life:
74% said that social media platforms make them feel more connected to their friends.
63% said social media provided a place to show off their creative side.
