Worldwide, an estimated 56% of people aged 15 and older with diabetes are diagnosed, and the remainder are not diagnosed, according to a recent study. "These findings highlight the urgent need for enhanced strategies and capacity building to improve the detection, treatment, and management of diabetes worldwide," the researchers stated. Better health outcomes could be achieved through targeted interventions and through increases in the capacity of health systems to diagnose and manage diabetes, the researchers recommended.
