16 States & D.C. Focus On Connecting Their Developmental Disability & Aging Support Systems
Sixteen states and the District of Columbia (D.C.) are participating in an initiative to connect their systems that support people with developmental disabilities and their aging support systems, including family caregivers, according to a recent report. The five-year Bridging Aging and Disability Community of Practice was launched in 2021 by the federal Administration for Community Living (ACL).
Five participants joined in 2022: Connecticut, D.C., Florida, Hawaii, and New Jersey. In 2023, two more participants joined, California and New Mexico. The remaining 10 participants joined in 2024: Alabama, Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma . . .
