In Early 2024, 3.4% Of Adults Had Long COVID
In early 2024, 3.4% of U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized adults had Long COVID, according to data presented by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The prevalence varied among those with pre-existing conditions. Among those previously diagnosed with chronic respiratory conditions, 7.5% of adults with emphysema had Long COVID, and 6.2% of adults with asthma had Long COVID. Having activity-limiting Long COVID symptoms that reduce the ability to carry out day-to-day activities compared with the time before having COVID-19 was reported by 2.4% of adults with Long COVID.
