Prosecutors Initiated At Least 412 Pregnancy-Related Cases & 441 Charges In 16 States In The First Two Years After Roe v. Wade Was Overturned

A total of 412 defendants faced 441 charges for conduct related to pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or birth in the first two years after the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade, according to a recent report. Of the 441 charges, 398 alleged a form of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment.

Overall, prosecutors initiated cases in 16 states: Alabama, California, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
