About one-third of U.S. non-profit organizations in the United States experienced a disruption in their government funding in the first half of 2025, according to a survey of 2,737 organizations by the Urban Institute. While non-profit respondents overall reported receiving less than one-third of their revenue from government sources, those that reported disruptions in the first half of 2025 received about 42% of revenue from government sources.
