Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program To Test Online Model To Increase Beneficiary Access
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is finalizing changes to the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) intended to encourage more Medicare beneficiaries with prediabetes to access free coaching, peer support, dietary information, physical activity guidance, and behavior change tools to delay or prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes. The changes were presented in the final rule for the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for 2026.
The program offers participants up to 22 intensive sessions over 12 months, structured with 16 initial sessions followed by maintenance sessions. The one-hour sessions are delivered by trained coaches.
