With more than 1 in 5 college students experiencing psychological distress, and dealing with its effects on academic performance, employment, relationships, and quality of life, apps offering brief smartphone-based interventions have been offered as a solution. Apps focused on physical activity, mindfulness, and sleep hygiene were effective at reducing symptoms, a recent study found.
