Department Of Education Enters Agreements To Reassign Its Responsibilities To Other Agencies
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced new interagency agreements (IAAs) that will transform its structure by reassigning some of its responsibilities to other agencies. Six new partnerships were announced with the Departments of Labor (DOL), Interior (DOI), Health and Human Services (HHS), and State.
The six agreements with the four agencies are as follows:
ED and DOL are establishing an Elementary and Secondary Education Partnership. DOL will take on a greater role in administering federal K-12 programs. DOL will manage competitions, provide technical assistance, and integrate ED’s programs with the suite of employment and training programs . . .
