More Than Half The U.S. Population Are Living With A Nervous System Disorder

In 2021, 54% of the people living in the U.S. (183.1 million Americans) were affected by a nervous system disease or disorder, according to a recent analysis.

Researchers analyzed data from the Global Burden of Disease 2021 study, the largest and most comprehensive effort to quantify health loss across places and over time. The goal was to evaluate disability and mortality rates for 36 medical conditions that affect nervous system health across the U.S. population.
