Medicaid Pays For Almost 70% Of All Home Care Spending In The U.S.

With Medicaid paying for almost 70% of all home care spending in the U.S., which accounts for one-third of Medicaid total spending, changes in Medicaid funding could affect state spending on home care programs.

Using data from a survey sent to all home programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, a recent KFF (formerly known as the Kaiser Family Foundation) health policy analysis revealed nearly all states already manage Medicaid home care spending through caps on spending or enrollment or by limiting services.
