Child Mortality In The U.S. Has Increased 14% From 2018 To 2023

Child mortality increased 14%, from 25.9 to 29.6 deaths per 100,000 children ages 1 to 19 between 2018 and 2023, according to a recent report from The United Health Foundation. Child mortality rates were highest among American Indian/Alaska Native children, at 62.0 deaths per 100,000 children, and lowest among Asian children, at 14.4 deaths per 100,000 children.

The top causes of injury deaths were firearms, motor vehicle traffic accidents, and poisoning. “Most of these deaths could have been prevented,” the report stated.
