Georgia Proposes Changes To Its HCBS Waiting List For Those With I/DD
The Georgia Department Of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is considering changes to its waiting list for Medicaid waiver home- and community-based services (HCBS) for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The changes were proposed at the DBHDD Board Meeting in December 2025. Under the proposal, the existing waiting list would be restructured into a three-tiered system based on the urgency of need: immediate need for services in the current fiscal year, planning for upcoming need within one to five years, and forecasting for those with projected need six or more years in the future.
