New York Announces Investments To Deliver Universal Child Care For Children Younger Than Age 5
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced investments to fund universal child care for children younger than age 5. The total investment for fiscal year 2027 is planned to be $4.5 billion for child care and prekindergarten services statewide.
The investment is expected to fund affordable child care slots for nearly 100,000 more children. The goal of the investment is that by the 2028-29 school year, all 4-year-old children in the state can access prekindergarten classes.
