New Dietary Guidelines Update Federal Nutrition Policy
The federal government released new Dietary Guidelines on January 7, 2026. The updated guidelines specify daily consumption recommendations for an adult consuming a diet of 2,000 calories, however because a 2,000-calorie diet is not appropriate for all individuals, daily serving goals may need to be adjusted for different calorie needs, as recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
