Medicaid Spending Reached $900.3 Billion For 103 Million Beneficiaries In FY 2023

Medicaid program spending in fiscal year (FY) 2023 totaled $900.3 billion, according to a data set released by the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC). Of the total, $619.9 billion was federal spending and $280.4 billion was state spending. Medicaid spending represented 18% of total U.S. health care spending in 2022 and 10.3% of federal outlays for FY 2023.
