Idaho Legislature Considering Bill To Add Assertive Community Treatment For People With SMI To Medicaid State Plan
The Idaho legislature is considering House Bill 753 to add assertive community treatment (ACT) for Medicaid beneficiaries with serious mental illness (SMI) to the state Medicaid plan. The legislation follows recent Medicaid cuts implemented to address a state budget deficit. The cuts included several programs serving beneficiaries with SMI, including ACT services.
As part of those changes, Magellan of Idaho, which manages the Idaho Behavioral Health Plan (IBHP), discontinued ACT as a bundled service effective December 1, 2025.
