Cardiovascular Risk Factors Projected To Rise Among U.S. Women And Girls
The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and disease in women and girls is projected to increase steadily through 2050, according to a recent study. High blood pressure prevalence is projected to rise from 48.6% in 2020 to 59.1% in 2050. Diabetes prevalence is projected to increase from 14.9% to 25.3% over the same period, and obesity prevalence is projected to increase from 43.9% to 61.2%. The increases are attributed in part to an aging U.S. population, but also to rising cardiovascular risk factors among younger populations.
