Investors Pick Assisted Living Sector As Best Opportunity For Senior Living & Care Investment In 2026

Senior living investors see opportunity across all sectors, with the greatest opportunity in assisted living, according to an investor survey report. About 45% of the survey respondents selected assisted living as the best investment opportunity for 2026. About 26% selected active adult housing; 13% selected independent living; 6% selected continuing care/life plan communities; 5% selected stand-alone memory care, and 5% selected skilled nursing.

The number of middle-income older adults is projected to double by 2029. Over half of this segment is projected to lack sufficient resources to afford conventional senior living and care.
