ChatGPT Health, a new artificial intelligence (AI) application focused on triaging consumer health concerns, undertriaged 52% of emergencies, according to a recent report. Researchers tested the technology with clinical vignettes of varying urgency to assess triage accuracy.
The technology correctly triaged the urgency of classic emergencies such as stroke and anaphylaxis. However, the recommendations advised waiting 24 to 48 hours to evaluate symptoms before seeking emergency care for vignettes that described a person with diabetic ketoacidosis or impending respiratory failure.
