Multiple Sclerosis Prevalence Doubled In Two Decades In England

The prevalence of multiple sclerosis (MS) in England more than doubled between 2000 and 2020, according to a recent study. Age-, sex-, and region-adjusted prevalence increased from 107.1 cases per 100,000 people in 2000 to 231.8 per 100,000 in 2020.

Over the same period, the number of recorded MS cases increased from approximately 22,000 to more than 37,600. The study estimates that approximately 131,000 people in England were living with MS in 2020.
