Rural Health Care Leaders Cite Funding & Capacity Constraints As Barriers To Expanding Services
Rural health care leaders report significant gaps in service availability and infrastructure, with funding and capacity constraints limiting their ability to respond to growing demand, according to a recent national survey.
More than half of surveyed leaders (55%) said there is a strong unmet demand for senior-focused programming and services in their communities. In addition, 53% reported shortages in emergency and urgent care access, 44% cited a lack of general practice physicians, and 42% pointed to gaps in behavioral and mental health clinic availability.
