Youth Suicide Deaths Declined 11% Following Launch Of 988 Lifeline
After the 988 Lifeline launched in July 2022, suicide deaths among youth and young adults ages 15 to 34 declined by 11% through the end of 2024, according to a recent analysis. During this period, the actual number of suicides totaled 35,529 compared to 39,901 expected suicide deaths, a reduction of 4,372 deaths (11%).
