Enrollment In Michigan Medicaid Expansion Linked To Less Medical Debt & Better Financial Well-Being Over Seven Years Later
Michigan Medicaid beneficiaries who qualified for enrollment in the expansion category had less medical debt and better financial well-being up to seven years later, compared to their financial well-being in the two years before enrollment, according to a recent study. By being enrolled in Medicaid, the beneficiaries were protected from out-of-pocket costs for medical care, which improved their financial stability, and may have led to further improvement in enrollee health and financial well-being.
