The number of leucovorin prescriptions written for children with autism increased sharply during 2025, with prescription rates rising approximately 24-fold between early 2025 and late 2025, according to a recent analysis. Researchers noted that prescribing rates began increasing following national media coverage of leucovorin's potential use in autism in February 2025 and accelerated after a federal policy announcement supporting its use in September 2025.
