The share of older adults in Florida hospitalized for mental disorders increased by 16% between 2022 and 2024, according to a recent report by the Humana Foundation. More than 12% of older adults in the state have been diagnosed with depression.
Older women are diagnosed with depression at more than twice the rate of older men, 17% compared to 8%. Hispanic older adults have higher depression rates than White older adults, at 19% compared to 13%.
