Nationwide, 18.7% of American adults age 65 or older were working at least part-time during 2025, about the same percentage as in 2023, at 19.1%, according to an analysis of federal data. The occupation with the highest percentage of workers age 65 and older was broadcast announcer/radio disc jockey, at 44% of that workforce. About 38.9% of legislators are age 65 or older.
