Maryland Expands Medicaid Housing Supports To Address Homelessness & Health Outcomes
The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) is expanding its Assistance in Community Integration Services (ACIS) program, which provides housing assistance to Medicaid beneficiaries experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The expansion will allow more than 1,000 additional beneficiaries and their families to receive housing stability services and health care support. The expansion was announced on June 23, 2026.
Originally launched as a pilot in 2017, ACIS serves Medicaid participants who meet at least one qualifying health criterion and the housing risk criterion. The health criteria include having two or more chronic conditions or using emergency department or hospital services . . .
