61% Of U.S. Adults With A Psychiatric Disorder Received Treatment; 34% Received Minimally Adequate Care

An estimated 24.9% of U.S. adults ages 18 to 65 had a past-year psychiatric disorder, and 60.7% of those individuals received some form of treatment, according to a recent study. However, just 34.0% of adults with a psychiatric disorder received treatment that met the study’s criteria for minimally adequate care. Among those who received any treatment, 56.9% received minimally adequate care, meaning 43.1% received treatment that did not meet the minimum standard.
