Ohio Moves Oversight Of Recovery Housing Certification From Contractors To Department Of Behavioral Health
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued an executive order and emergency rules on August 10, 2026, to move oversight of recovery housing certification to the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). The goal, according to the Governor, is to ensure the state has greater oversight and punitive powers in cases of waste, fraud, or abuse. The state previously contracted with Ohio Recovery Housing and Oxford House, Inc. to accredit recovery housing.
