Akron Children’s Expands Inpatient Behavioral Health Care, Adds Crisis Stabilization Unit

Akron Children’s Hospital opened an expanded 30-bed inpatient behavioral health unit for youth ages 5 through 17. The unit includes a crisis stabilization unit where parents stay with their children and participate in therapy. The expanded unit provides additional treatment space for youth with anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health conditions.

The unit previously had 24 beds on the eighth floor of the main hospital building. It has moved to the fifth floor of Akron Children’s Kay Jewelers Pavilion and can eventually expand to 40 beds.
